How Much Is Too Much With Skincare + Worthwhile Splurges
Since July is coming to a close, I thought I would share my latest beauty must-haves that are hidden gems. You can quickly get these anywhere, and it's been worth the splurge. But when it comes to skincare investing, how much does skincare cost too much or too little? How many skincare products do you really need? Before buying anything, it's crucial to think about these factors:
What am I trying to accomplish?
What do the reviews and consumers have to say?
What's my spending limit?
Will this product be incorporated regularly?
Those always factors vary in lifestyle and budget, and it's up to you. However, I tested these products for you firsthand so that you don't have to. It'll give you time to think about it before spending money. Before buying these products, my overall goals in skincare were to:
Get rid of dry skin
Lock in moisture
Have a little self-care moment before ending the day.
These product picks were inspired by the beauty news world, friends, colleagues, and my curiosity.
Dry Brushing
I was skeptical of this beauty tool, but it's worked so well in my favor that I swear by it in my routine. Dry brushing helps to eliminate cellulite, exfoliate dead skin, and increase blood circulation. This purchase was inspired by my new boss, who suggested it. The first time I tried it, I was shook at how effective it works. It sheds so much dry skin that regular exfoliant misses and keeps my skin silky soft. I usually do it no more than 2-3x per week before showering. Complementing it with your favorite body butter, lotion, or oil afterward is recommended. There's also a handy how-to guide that takes you to step by step through the process!
Body Gua Sha
To match my dry brushing habits, I got a body gua sha. Doing the whole body gua sha ritual obviously takes a little more time than dry brushing, but it's an excellent way to relax. A body gua sha is good for musculoskeletal problems, preeminent ones like tightness in the shoulders, legs, and back. It can also help alleviate tension headaches, migraines, neck pain, or swelling in your body. It keeps me from having sore muscles and helps with lymphatic drainage. I also realized that it helped a lot with my overall digestion. It pairs well with any body product, and it's satisfying to see the results over time. So you can quickly get one from Amazon. I luckily found one that I like at the detox market while window shopping.
Lavendar Glossier Balm
The nourishing ingredients and the smell is incredible. I'm addicted to this balm and carry it on all ventures. The Glossier brand is known for its signature staples; if you want to start small, this is an excellent place to start. Lip balm itself combats different aspects that tend to be overlooked. This wax-like substance helps shield your lips from dry air, wind, and especially cold temperatures.
Plume Probiotic Hand Cream
Since moving to LA, I've stepped more into my element with skincare for my hands and all skin parts. With hand creams, you can boost your moisture levels and skin elasticity. While combating pigmentation, dehydration, and premature aging. The smell is a good dupe of regular Aesop products and keeps the moisture locked in while non-greasy. They also have products that have a similar essence to their hand sanitizer and soaps if you like the lotion.
My next beauty splurges will be more skincare based, but having the resources and insight contributed to my findings. Seeing the results initially started boosted my expectations. I'm looking forward to seeing more products in store for the industry's future and for all to come!
